Meetings on study of the lessons learned at the community level

Within the framework of the project “Mainstreaming youth policy against radicalism” (MYPAR) funded by the European Commission meetings were held on study of the lessons learned in the six target communities. These meetings were attended by youth groups of six jamoats of Asht and B. Gafurov districts, school teachers, heads of departments of Youth, Sports and Tourism of target districts, representatives of departments of education districts, as well as representatives of local authorities.

At the beginning of each meeting the project coordinator Tyuryaev Jamshed welcomed all participants and briefly told about the second phase of the project. As coordinator of the project briefly told about the goals and objectives of the meeting. Next project coordinator presented facilitator of the meetings. As a facilitator Makhkamboy Karimov, trainer of the Innovative Education Center of Agakhan human studies program, the University of Central Asia at KSU was invited to the meeting. M. Karimov welcomed all the participants and noted that these meetings were devoted to study of the lessons learned. Then, turning to the young people, facilitator, asked the following questions: “What new thing did you got from passed seminars?”, “What new thing have you learned during the seminars?”, “How did the quality of your knowledge change after listening course of seminars?” “How will you use this knowledge?” “What did you remember most from passed seminars?”

Next, participants made ​​presentations:

1. Seminar on “Human rights with a focus on religion”

2. Seminar on “Religious Pluralism”

3. One - day camp “We are against radicalism”

4. Seminar on “Basics of traditional Islam"

5. Round table on the theme: “Youth radicalism: the causes and factors”

6. Seminar on “Radicalism, tolerance and conflict”.

After each presentation facilitator asked various questions to the presented material for this lesson. After the presentation of all the groups, the participants began to develop proposals and recommendations for project staff. In general, meetings were very interesting and informative. Only one thing made members of the Youth Group upset; the educational program within the framework of the project, consisting of training and seminars came to an end.
