High school students trained in peaceful dialogue
In 50 border secondary schools of Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan, for senior students of 9 - 11 classes employees of organizations - members of the Valley of Peace conduct educational activities to promote the ideas of regional cooperation between the youth of the Ferghana Valley and the promotion of tolerance for members of different nationalities.
In September, October and November in Batken, Jalal-Abad, Osh and Sughd regions for schoolchildren will be organized trainings on the basics of conflict and methods of nonviolent solutions of possible conflicts as well as competitions for the best wall newspaper and informational programs on the history and culture of people living in this region. As a result of competition students will be awarded with prizes and gifts.
Within this project the most active students in their schools conduct peer debates, talk shows, KVN, Days of Peace, trainings and seminars aimed at promoting ideas of peace and cooperation in the Ferghana Valley - one of the most contentious regions of the planet.
All activities will continue until the end of 2010, and bring together nearly 1500 schoolchildren living in towns and villages along the borders of the region. (Articles in the mass media)
