Joint project of Safeworld and PO ASTI
“Preventing conflict through a participatory approach to the safety of border communities in the Ferghana Valley”. PO "ASTI" in partnership with the “Foundation for Tolerance International” and international organization «Saferworld» from June 2010 during 10 months are implementing the project “Preventing conflict through a participatory approach to the safety of border communities in the Ferghana Valley”.
Project aims to restore confidence and trust between young people in rural areas that are parallel along the border, local authorities and law enforcement agencies to ensure that they together could solve some problems of their security. This project is an example of how this can be done and how the capacity and confidence restored between the people and authorities at the local level and will be used as 'advocacy' for international, national and local performers to apply similar approaches in other areas of Fergana Valley, where level of insecurity of trust to the bodies ensuring security is very high. In addition, the project is a practical example of how policy reforms aimed at strengthening the interaction between society and government, can be implemented at the local level.
