Study Tour to Malatya, Turkey
A study tour on innovative methods of commercial horticulture and dried fruits processing was organized within the project “Economic Development in Central Asia through promotion of BIOs and SMEs in the food processing sector” (EcoDev) from June 09 to 15, 2014 to Turkey in the province of Malatya.
The purpose of the tour:
- Raise awareness of participants on innovative methods of commercial horticulture.
- Introduce the participants with experience of dried fruits processing in Turkey.
- Introduce the participants with modern technologies of processing of fruits and vegetables.
- Introduce the participants to modern management methods and effective management in enterprises for dried fruits processing.
- Application and dissemination of gained knowledge and skills.
The participants of the study tour were representatives of the processing enterprises of Tajikistan and Kyrgyzstan. The project planned to organize a tour of 10 people, including partner organizations. Due to the actuality of the theme of study tour, some entrepreneurs went to a study tour at their own expense, as result a group of 17 people went to a study tour.
During their stay in the province Malatya meetings were organized and conducted for tour participants:
- «Alptekin» organization for the development and production of technological equipment for processing of agricultural products.
- Two farm enterprises engaged in the cultivation of apricots and mixed gardens.
- Two enterprises engaged in processing and packaging of dried apricot.
- Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Malatya, Turkey.
- The company producing various pumps.
- Institute of Horticulture of Malatya, one of the main crops is apricot.
- wholesale market of dried fruit
- point for selling gardening tools equipment.
